Ayanna Pressley is a woman who has many skills. She is an activist, advocate, and expert on policy. The 6th of November, 2018, Ayanna was elected to the Massachusetts 7th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, making her the first woman of color to be elected to Congress in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Ayanna believes that those who have experienced the greatest hardships in their lives must be in the top positions of power. Ayanna believes it's crucial to have diverse voices in order to help create better government policies. Her mother Sandra Pressley worked as a tenant right activist and inspired her to become a citizen. Her mother was an activist who instilled in her the importance of civic engagement.
