April Ross
April Ross was one of the few female beach volleyball stars who won medals in multiple Olympics. Alix klineman, who is playing for the first time at Tokyo's Olympic Games and will attempt to win her third gold medal. Ross is also hoping to win her very first Olympic medal. With her age of 39, this may be her final opportunity to claim the Olympic gold. Nevertheless, she remains certain of taking top honors. Ross said on NBC Boston that if they perform at their very best, or play a great game, she believes the team will be able to win the gold medal. "I'm also going to try to have a bit of luck." Ross born August 22nd, 1982 in Costa Mesa California. She resided there with her family. Along with playing in numerous sports, Ross also attended Newport Harbor High School. As a pre-schooler she was a participant in indoor volleyball along with basketball and running track. Although she was a pro at indoor volleyball but it was apparent that her performance was above the average. As per her biography in high school, she played volleyball as an outside setter (middle blocker) as well as a the setter (outside blocker). She was named the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the year in 1999 due to her accomplishments. The 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Month award was also won by her due to her volleyball skills. Ross and Klineman may be working on a project in 2017, but Ross was an experienced player at the beach before they joined forces. She has had the chance to win numerous tournaments, including one with an iconic volleyball player. The pair teamed together with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and also was Klineman's trainer. Kessy as well as Ross proved to be strong on the international arena, taking home the world championship in 2009 with each other. This duo went through to take home a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games at London. They were knocked out of the gold by the legendary group comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). It was fate that had them. Ross turned out to be Walsh Jennings' new partner as May-Treanor stepped down. They won the beach volleyball bronze during the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross was a Trojans player for the USC during her college days, prior to becoming a professional. And her run in the Trojans' ranks was one to remember. She was an All-American as well as Pac-10 freshman of the year when she was a teen freshman. Also, she was a key player in helping the Trojans reach their way to the Final Four. After her sophomore year, she experienced a terrible personal tragedy, but was able to be named an All-American. In her last two years, she took the Trojans up to the summit and took home consecutive national championships. As an individual Ross established her status as a legend by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This award was given to the best female college volleyball players in the nation. Ross studied the field of international relations in USC. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, was never given the opportunity to see Ross' daughter blossom into a beach volleyball superstar. Ross's mother died of breast carcinoma in 2001. Ross had just become sophomore at USC. She continues to keep her mother's memory close and dear. Margie is a source of inspiration both in her personal life and at the beach.
